The Old Town of Rhodes has history of inhabitation dating back to the Medieval times. It is believed to be the oldest and also the best preserved extensively spread medieval town of Europe, which is fortified by a medieval wall. The Palace of the Prince Grand Master, citadel of the Knights of St John, has the preserved polychrome marbles, carpets, statues and fine pieces of furniture.. Other major attractions include the Simi’s Square, the Archaeological Museum, the Ipponton Street (more famous with its other name of The Street of the Knights), the Mosque of Suleiman, the Museum of Decorative Art, the Minaret of Old City and the Clock Tower.
