The Volcano Nea Kameni Island
VOLCANO (Nea Kameni)
Following the latest explosion the island formed a small island called Nea Kameni (the burnt island) formed from a black volume of lava rocks the small island stands 12km from Athinios port to remind the mythical disaster. Following a 30min walking path you can reach the crater of the volcano, visitors can witness smoke and the smell sulfur coming out of the earth. Next to Nea Kameni is a smaller island Palaia Kameni famous for its hot mud springs where visitors can take hot mud baths.
